On the words of gallerist Doreen Timmers from Galerie Door:

Eva Burton’s body of work titled ‘When Play meets Ritual’ was inspired by the notion of play as a tool to create order and balance. For this series, Eva constructed her own game, with the field of art and art jewellery as a playground, and with a set of self-imposed rules by which she plays that game. The elements have a blunt and spontaneous appearance.

Burton’s marvelous sculpture titled ‘Toy Totem’ seems to be a stackable (children’s) game. Precious gemstones are no longer recognizable as precious materials. However, the materials and shapes, and even the colours and composition reflect a well thought-out scheme and experienced hands. Come out and play and learn to discover.
